Masonry, glazing and roof works to the Choir and Scriptorium Chapel

Throughout the major works to the exterior of the Abbey Choir, the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust has provided generous financial support which has been greatly appreciate by the PCC and the Selby Abbey Trust, allowing them to continue what is an enormous undertaking for a Parish church.

The sheer scale of the repair task meant it has been broken down into phases to make it more manageable.  At the beginning of 2008, works to the Scriptorium Chapel (Phase 6) were in progress, due to complete in the Spring.  Four phases have been completed since 2002.  So far, YHCT grants have helped to support the continuing fine craftsmanship by masons and glaziers.

We hope to complete the work to the Choir this year by carrying on with Phase 7, funds permitting.
