The Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust and St Mark’s, Broomhill, Sheffield invite you to:
A DAY at ST MARK’S – KEEPING PACE WITH A YORKSHIRE CITY
On Saturday, 29 October, 2016 , From 10.30am to 3.30pm at St Mark’s Church, Broomfield Road, Sheffield S10 2SE
St Mark’s, Broomhill, began in iron in 1859. It was reconstituted in stone in 1871 and again in 1963. The Victorian tower and spire survive but the rest is the work of one of the twentieth century’s most distinctive church architects: George Pace (1915-1975). St Mark’s shows him at his best. The day will begin with guided tours of the church. Peter Pace, son and biographer of George Pace, will lecture on his father’s work and engage in conversation, Newsnight style, with Professor Peter Fawcett, and David Price will intervene on behalf of St Mark’s.
Admission is £15, to include coffee, lunch, tea and lectures. Any surplus will be shared between the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust and St. Mark’s Church.
