A festival of flowers, music, spirituality, food and drink, taking place from Thursday 28th April – Monday 2nd May 2016
The aim of the festival is to create an event that showcases to all, both those involved at the Cathedral and the wider community, the different aspects of the Cathedral and elements of its life. This festival is to celebrate the Cathedral in the region it serves and to welcome families, friends and visitors to enjoy its rich heritage as well as the beautiful surroundings of Ripon itself.
The weekend promises to be exciting, captivating, fun and fulfilling.
Highlights of the Festival include:
Thursday 28th April
Jazz Preview Evening, 7pm. The festival starts with an opportunity to see the spectacular flower display before the general public, with an evening of live Jazz, Wine, Canapés and an introduction from The Dean about his vision for the future of Ripon Cathedral. Celebrity gardener Martin Fish in attendance. There will also be an opportunity to buy a VIP ticket which includes dinner with the Dean.
Friday 29th April, 10am – 4pm.
Flower Displays open to general public, Food and Drink Festival, Embroidery workshops and Live Bible Readings.
Saturday 30th April, 10am – 4pm.
Floral Displays, Food and Drink Festival, Children’s activities, Bell Tower Tours, Historical Talk, Evensong and ‘Northern Voices’ concert.
Sunday 1st May, 10am – 4pm.
Floral Displays, Festal Eucharist, Bell Tower Tours, Live Bible Readings and Meet the Bishop.
Evening ‘Songs of Praise’ at 4.30pm.
Monday 2nd May, 10am – 5.30pm.
The popular annual Beer Festival, Floral Displays, Charity exhibition, Come and Play the Organ, Historical Talk and Bell Tower Tours.
Pop-up Cathedral café will be open from 10am – 4.30pm throughout the festival weekend.
