St George’s Porch, Woodsetts

The porch at St George was in major need of some TLC, thanks to the excellent fund raising carried out by the congregation and the financial backing of trusts such as the YHCT, the porch was repaired and brought back to its former glory.

The work included repairs to the war memorial and church porch involving new doors, flooring. lighting, new porch gable cross, decoration and mortar repairs.

The total cost was £25,000, raised mainly from a gift day in the village, private donations, a grant from the Diocese of £5,000, a grant of £1,000 from our very own YHCT and £4,000 from a small fund from the sale of church land a number of years ago. The congregation are very pleased with the final result.
