The restoration of the historic tower at St Martin’s Church in Bulmer, a Grade I listed building, has been successfully completed following an intensive five month programme of specialist conservation work. The YHCT were delighted to award £9000 to the project.
Dating back to the 15th century, the tower has remained largely untouched for centuries, aside from an increase in height during the 17th century. This recent restoration marks the most significant intervention in generations, ensuring the structure’s longevity for years to come.
The £300,000 project was made possible through funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, alongside contributions from other grant giving organisations, including the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust.
The completion of the restoration not only safeguards an important piece of Bulmer’s architectural heritage but also strengthens its role at the heart of the local community.
