Despite the rain, many friends of the Trust donned walking boots, oiled their bike chains or took to their cars, to visit churches on Saturday 9th September. They were all taking part in Ride+Stride, the annual sponsorship event raising funds for churches across Yorkshire.

The photos above show the Mickley Movers – a group of 11 cyclists who covered 45 km visiting churches across the Fountains parish nr Ripon.

A team of 10 friends from York – The Newts – covered 14 miles and visited 7 churches in East Yorkshire, finishing with well earned tea and cakes at Everingham Hall, one of the finest private country houses in the county. Between them the team raised over £500 for their efforts, which was fantastic.

Many thanks to all who took part, raising much needed funds for the repair, restoration and maintenance of Yorkshire’s precious places of worship.

Ride +Stride will take place again on Saturday 8th September 2018. Watch this space for more details.
