2013 is a special year for the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust as we’re celebrating our 25th Anniversary. Since the trust began in 1988, we have generously granted almost £3,000,000 to churches across the county.
This year looks to be an exciting one for the churches of Yorkshire in need of funding. On top of the annual funding we distribute across the county, the trust is giving an additional £25,000 for special and significant projects. We are fully aware of the fact that places of worship are struggling to find sufficient funds to make the repairs and changes needed, so we are looking forward to being able to help those who care.
Throughout our Silver year, we are arranging a series of visits and events spanning the vibrant cities of Leeds, York and Sheffield, which are set to be really interesting days out.
The Big Sponsor Day, which takes place on 14th September, will challenge people to visit 25 places of worship in one day. Alternatively, you could climb your local church spire 25 times or sprucing up 25 neglected graveyards.
Also on 21st September, we are holding a special service at Wakefield Cathedral as a thank you to all of our generous donors and grant recipients who have been part of the trust over the past 25 years.
